“…Pregestational weight was evidently stated as self‐reported in 17 studies, not evident in eight studies or based on electronic or birth certificates and presumably self‐reported in 3 ; five studies used self‐reported or measured weight at booking or diagnosis . Weight gain according to pre‐pregnancy BMI was described in 18 studies , for the three IOM categories or as excessive or non‐excessive; one was excluded due to incomplete data for the four BMI categories ; only six studies reported GWG, separately, for the underweight category. Treatment strategies, either generic (referring to a local or well‐known guideline) or meticulous (including glycaemic goals and the A1c test, for instance) were described by 21 authors (66%, 95% CI 47–81%) ; 10 reported pharmacological treatment according to IOM categories for GWG and the others, insulin use according to other classifications; mean total weight gain was reported in nine studies; indicators of adherence to treatment, such as weight gain after GDM diagnosis and the A1c test , were seldom reported.…”
