Examinations are an indispensable part of a student's life. In the conventional mechanism, the question paper generation is timeconsuming work for the faculty members of the educational institution. Every educational institute mandatorily expects exam setters to follow its own typesetting format. We have designed the automated question paper setting software to be user-friendly so that, paper setters can overcome from the typographic problem. Presently in most of the educational institutions question papers are set manually. It is time-consuming work and there may be chances of repetition of the same questions. So, in order to make the question paper generation more convenient to use, the web application is developed using Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) that can be accessed from LAN/Intranet.The application comes with the Admin Module and Teachers Module. The Admin grants access to the users by registering them. The faculty can access the system once they are registered. The faculty can enter questions in the database daily as per their free time. In this way, the question pool can be generated. The questions are approved by the chairperson and substandard questions are discarded. The question paper is then generated by selected course experts. The Fisher-Yates Shuffling algorithm used to choose questions randomly from the pool of questions from the database. Text Mining Algorithm aids in duplicity removal from the paper. The generated question paper will be in Word Format. In our application, we assure better security, removal of duplicity, cost-effectiveness, and human intervention avoidance. It can be used by small-scale and large-scale institutions.

Examination is conducted to test a person's knowledge or proficiency in a subject. An examination can be a written test or can be conducted online. The major drawback of written test is less security of the system. Question paper may get leaked, this is one of the security issue with written test system. This may result in reexamination or may lower the interest of student. Remote locking system can be used to overcome this problem, where question paper gets printed without human intervention and will not be visible to anyone until the lock is released.

Several efforts have been made to computerize Examination System. Agents are autonomous software components capable of making decision on behalf of other entities to realize desired goals. A Multiagent System is a collection of agents that cooperate to solve a problem. In this paper, a Multiagent System is designed, implemented and tested for Management and Evaluation of Examination (MASMEE). Examination can be subjective, objective or practical based on programming languages. The functions of paper setting, evaluation of answers' and result compilation are performed by intelligent agents. MASMEE mainly consists of two agents: Examiner Agent (EA) and Student Agent (SA). EA sets the paper, evaluates the submitted answers and compiles the results. The SA enables the students' to take the examination by providing question paper and collecting the answers.The paper setting is performed using a database of questions. A web based interface is developed for conduct of examination. The evaluation of subjective and objective examinations is performedbased on techniquesof information retrieval and Ontology.Practical evaluation is done using 4-stage framework, evaluating on the basis of compilation, functional testing, metrics, efficiencyand similarity of programs to standard program. The MASMEE system is implemented using Java andJava Agent Development Environment (JADE).Testing is performed by conducting tests with post-graduate students. The scores generated by MASMEE are compared with scores assigned by human examiner using correlation and are found to be satisfactory. It is concluded that MASMEE system can help to reduce the effort of human examiner.
