A hybrid interleaved/switched-capacitor boost converter

Abstract: This paper proposes a boost dc-dc converter topology with the capability of canceling the input current ripple at an arbitrarily preselected duty cycle, high-voltage gain without utilizing extreme values of duty cycle or boosting transformers, it contains a switched-capacitor structure in which the current among capacitors is continuous. The paper provides details on the principle of operation via topological considerations and a mathematical model. The key factor of reactive components sizing is also discusse… Show more

“…Although soft-switching performance, in this circuit, high voltage gains are achieved using a large component counts. In addition, three new multi-output DC-DC converters with simple structure and low DC input current ripple are presented in [13][14][15]. The impossibility of balancing the output poles is the main defect of these converters.…”

“…The concept of interleaved technique is a common method that allows for a decrease in the input current ripple of a converter. It is demonstrated in [8]- [10] for renewable energy applications, but also in articles [14]- [20], which present high-voltage-gain converters with SC circuits. The converters proposed in [14]- [17] are built as a hybrid switched-capacitor/switched-inductor (SC/SI) structure with inductors on the input side.…”

The converters proposed in [14]- [17] are built as a hybrid switched-capacitor/switched-inductor (SC/SI) structure with inductors on the input side. This allows for a decrease in the input current ripple by the utilization of the proposed topology and control concept, as well as the use of the SC structure for adequate voltage gain achievement.…”

“…As PV module has low output voltage and its voltage change according to the load, this cause high voltage gain power converter is required. Conventional Boost Converter (CBC) has a limitation on its boosting ration, approximately twice of input voltage, this leads to a lot of research to be done in the literature to develop high gain converters [1]- [6].…”
