A Hybrid E-Learning Model Incorporating Some of the Principal Learning Theories

Abstract: In the context of e-learning many learning theories used in the physical classroom situation, including learning in a community adaptive, collaborative, scaffolding, and scenario learning, have been adopted and validated. Based on these learning theories, an electronic platform and set of procedures for applying a hybrid e-learning model to an internationally accredited training course in industry was explored, developed, and evaluated for this study. This hybrid e-learning system provided electronic, illustra… Show more

“…Ash [6] stated that blended or hybrid learning was found to have greater outcomes than solely face-to-face or online instruction [6] E-learning approaches can help to augment and support diverse teaching styles addressing the learning needs of students. The flexibility of e-learning is effective in removing the barriers of time, space, and need to show up to class making it an effective approach to teaching [7]. The modules are alive in that they change constantly in response to what is learned.…”

“…Four designated IT applications are employed to position the target knowledge within the business process. Finally, the technological infrastructure is provided with a first layer of workflow, groupware and AV-publications in receiving knowledge; a second layer of knowledge base in storing knowledge; and the third layer of hybrid e-learning (Tsai 2012) and knowledge search engines in retrieving knowledge. As resulted in the model, there are four typical benefits as the expected outcomes in sharing NSD knowledge in the case company.…”

“…This technology enables students and teachers to share files, discuss and social bookmark to elaborate topics of their International Conference on Advances in Education Technology (ICAET 2014) study [3]. Yun, et al also discuss e-learning and implement it as hybrid learning [4]. This learning provides collaborative learning in many environments as described in Fig.…”
