A Hybrid Discrete Bat Algorithm with Krill Herd-based advanced planning and scheduling tool for the capital goods industry

Abstract: Capital goods companies produce high value products such as power plant or ships, which have deep and complex product structures, with components having long process routings. Contracts usually include substantial penalties for late delivery. The high value of items can lead to substantial holding costs. Efficient schedules minimise earliness and tardiness costs and need to satisfy assembly and operation precedence constraints as well as finite capacity. This paper presents the first advanced planning and sche… Show more

“…SA algorithm combined with the WOA algorithm is used to improve the best solution found after each iteration of the WOA algorithm [221]. The combination of the CS algorithm and BA algorithm with the KH algorithm [222,223] or BAS algorithm with PSO [224,225] can improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the original algorithm. In addition, they can be combined with other control algorithms to achieve better adaptive control.…”

“…Recently, swarm intelligence has paid more attention in academia. 10 The typical swarm intelligent algorithms include artificial colony ant, 11 cuckoo search algorithm, 12 artificial bee colony, 13,14 bat algorithm, [15][16][17] and so on, which have widely used to all kinds of fields such as continuous optimization, [18][19][20] engineering optimization, [21][22][23][24] project management, 25 system optimization, 26 software design, 27,28 and so on. In addition, swarm intelligences have also applied to multi-objective problems.…”

“…Computational Intelligence (CI) based on nature-inspired optimisation methods, e.g., Genetic Algorithm [ 5 ], Frog Leaping Algorithm [ 6 ], Artificial Immune System [ 7 ], Ant Colony Optimisation [ 4 ], Grey Wolf Optimisation [ 8 ], Bat Algorithm [ 9 ], Particle Swarm Optimisation (PSO) [ 10 ], has become very popular to solve the large sizes of combinatorial optimisation problems [ 11 ]. Although there is no guarantee to yield an optimal solution, these algorithms can practically solve the NP-hard problems within acceptable computational time [ 12 ].…”
