A High‐Speed Passive‐Matrix Electrochromic Display Using a Mesoporous TiO2 Electrode with Vertical Porosity

“…84 Experimental electrochromic devices have exhibited white reflectance as high as 90%. 85 In the colored states, most systems provide poorly saturated color compared to standard RGB or CMY pigments. NTERA claims to be working on red and orange capability.…”

“…Electrical addressing and gray scale: Electrochromic devices are current driven, so active-matrix addressing requires non-standard TFT circuits, and the update time for active-matrix addressing is slow. 87 Passive-matrix addressing is also viable, 85,88 but even with pixel switching speeds of 1 msec the display update is 1 sec for 1000 rows, and the lack of true bistability requires an occasional image refresh. Power consumption is rarely reported, so we calculate approximate power consumption using parameters of write time and the electrochromic efficiency (cm 2 /C).…”

“…The porous alumina materials with uniform voids among the nanowires can be used in a wide range of applications such as adsorption, separation, and catalyst [6]. The mesoporous TiO 2 films with vertical pores have been prepared with a spin coating method by optimizing the pore diameter and the thin film thickness for electrochromic applications [7,8]. Bastakoti et al [9] developed a new pathway toward synthesizing In 2 O 3 nanoparticles within carbon porous materials by a thermal decomposition process of a metal source.…”

“…[15] Therefore, various attempts have been reported to fabricate perpendicularly oriented mesochannels, [16] which have many potential applications. [17] In this work, highly ordered MSF with nanochannels vertically aligned and attached to the underlying surface of indium tin oxide (ITO) glass was prepared as previously reported, [18] and used as a hard-template to support unprotected AuNPs. Prior to deposition, the surface of MSF was functioned with (3-aminopropyl)triethoxy silane (APTS).…”
