A global bibliometric analysis of otolaryngology: Head and neck surgery literature

Abstract: Bibliometric analysis can be used to identify not only major centres of English-language ENT surgical research, such as the USA and UK but centres that are producing high-quality data, such as Spain, and cost-effective research, such as the UK. It can also highlight areas of increasing success in ENT research.

“…In addition, the experience, foresight and scientific capability of faculty members supporting the writing and publishing of articles constitute an advantage for authors. 5 Academic experience increased throughout the whole process, from the stage of the emergence of ideas in article preparation, the determination of innovations which will contribute to literature, data collection, writing the article, academic English language ability, and the quality and selection of the journal. In the fields of medicine, biology and other natural sciences, Turkish universities are not at the desired level and according to the Nature Index, 70 articles constituted 1.16 per 1000 of the total 60473 articles in 2018.…”

“…Yet its use Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery (OHNS) is relatively recent, and a subject with which many in our field may be unfamiliar. 4 Existing efforts in OHNS have been largely focused on the identification of "classic" articles and the impact of both journals and authors. [5][6][7] SBs have long been a recognized bibliometric phenomenon.…”
