“…The study area has a land mass of about 1,961km 2 . Topographically, the land is generally undulating with monotonous depressions which contain water even during the dry season (Njoku et al, 2017) The soils in the area are derived from three major geological groups; the recent alluvial deposit, tertiary coastal plain sand and the igneous and metamorphic rocks (Onyekwere et al, 2015).
