This article proposes the use of cosimulation between Matlab/Simulink and Rsoft Optsim to model a radio‐over‐fiber (RoF) link for 802.11g wireless local area network (WLAN) applications. First, a RoF link is modeled based on the experimental results of binary phase shift keying data transmission. Then, orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) data in frame format will be created using Matlab/Simulink to be transmitted over the same modeled RoF link. Results show that it is possible to model an 802.11g WLAN data over the RoF system using cosimulation software and the OFDM data transmission was successfully simulated and the constellation diagram and bit error rate are shown. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
