A Frequency Tracking Method Based on Improved Adaptive Notch Filter for Coriolis Mass Flowmeter

Abstract: Adaptive notch filters (ANF) are known have non-absolute convergence problems which will lead to precision reduction in long-playing frequency tracking. In this paper, we propose an improved ANF based on Steiglitz-McBride method (SMM) for Coriolis mass flowmeter (CMF) whose frequency, amplitude and phase are time-varying based on the random walk model. An monitor is designed to monitor whether the frequency is estimated rightly or the ANF just filters noise. If the frequency of CMF’s signal is missed, we will … Show more

“…The delay occurs due to the Coriolis force, which occurs during the oscillation of the flow tube with the fluid flowing in it. The direction of the Coriolis force in the left and right half of the tube is directed in opposite directions [3,12]. The coefficient of proportionality for each flowmeter depends on the mechanical properties of the pipe, the effect of the oscillatory mechanism and the transfer functions of the measuring transducers [3].…”

“…In contrast, the phase difference method is feasible for all kinds of windows and can be implemented conveniently without calculating any parameters in advance. As a result, it is extensively applied to various engineering fields, such as vibration monitoring, 10 fault diagnosis, [11][12][13] coriolis mass flowmeter, 14,15 power electronic parameter estimation 16 and so on.…”

“…A lattice ANF (LANF) was brought in CMF signal processing in [10]. [11] and [12] introduced a novel IIR-type ANF evolved from the Steiglitz-McBride method (SMM-ANF) [13] for CMF signal frequency tracking. The novel ANF has unbiased theory results, high precision and faster convergence rate compared with LANF.…”
