A Framework for Determining a Prediction-Of-Use Tariff Aimed at Coordinating Aggregators of Plug-In Electric Vehicles

Abstract: The objective of this article is to propose a framework for defining a day-ahead prediction-of-use tariff (POU) that promotes aggregators of the plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) to operate as closely as possible to an optimal charging curve previously calculated by the distribution system operator (DSO). The DSO calculates this optimal charging curve to flatten the load curve of the distribution transformers as much as possible by coordinating the daily recharging of PEVs. The objective is to establish the opt… Show more

“…1. The Time of Use (TOU) tariff [110] plays a pivotal role in enhancing EV penetration by encouraging off-peak charging when electricity demand is lower. This strategy not only leads to cost savings for consumers but also promotes efficient use of the electrical grid.…”

“…Based on that study, the load demands could be met, CO 2 emissions could be reduced, and system costs could be minimized. Another study [27] investigated a different aspect by focusing on the use of tariffs for coordinating EV aggregators. In [28], energy management was the focus of the work to optimally coordinate the demand response and EV aggregators.…”

“…Since this is uncontrollable, it may result in an uncertain load profile. Therefore, aggregators have been introduced in the power sector [20,21]. In [2], information on the demand charge of PEVs is provided.…”
