A fluorescent sensor to detect sodium dodecyl sulfate based on the glutathione-stabilized gold nanoclusters/poly diallyldimethylammonium chloride system

Abstract: A simple method for the detection of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) was developed based on glutathione-stabilized gold nanoclusters (GSH-AuNCs) and poly(diallyldimethylammonium)chloride (PDDA) enhanced fluorescent system. Fluorescent Au NCs were synthesized by a one-step approach employing GSH as reducing/protecting reagent. The electrostatic group repulsions between GSH-Au NCs and PDDA resulted in strong fluorescence enhancement from the GSH-Au NCs. Moreover, the addition of SDS was able to cause a significant … Show more

“…24 The related synthesis methods and ligands have an impact on the particle size, morphology, and crystalline structure of the MNCs. 25,26 MNCs are known to bind to surfactants, 27 thiols, 28 dendrimers (polymers), 29 proteins, 30 enzymes, 31 DNAs, 32 and other substances to control their performance and stability. Additionally, fluorescent carbon quantum dots (CQDs) have attracted considerable attention because of their simple preparation, low toxicity, ease of functionalization, great biocompatibility, and wavelength-tunable fluorescence characteristics.…”

“…Thanks to the biocompatible glutathione (HSG) which does not exhibit cytotoxicity itself, the Ag-glutathione complex also does not show obvious cytotoxicity with concentrations up to mmol L À1 . 2,[32][33][34][35][36] Motivated by this, here we have synthesized ecofriendly silver NCs, and performed an in-depth study of ion detection utilizing the glutathione-protected silver (Ag@SG) NCs as a uorescence chemosensor. It is interesting to nd that the as-prepared Ag NCs chemosensor is effective for the detection and differentiation of Mn 2+ and I À ions.…”
