A Flexible Lead‐Free BaTiO3/PDMS/C Composite Nanogenerator as a Piezoelectric Energy Harvester

Abstract: A novel approach to develop high‐performance flexible piezoelectric nanogenerators (PNGs) by using a lead‐free BaTiO3/polydimethyl siloxane (PDMS)/C composite thin film is proposed. The lead‐free BaTiO3 nanoparticles (NPs) are successfully fabricated using a facile modified (nano‐scale precursors) solid‐phase method. The synthesized BaTiO3/PDMS/C composite PNG exhibits an output voltage of approximately 7.43 V with periodically beating from a vibrator, which is increased by 143 % compared to the PNGs without C… Show more

“…The maximum current density (CD) and power density (PD) values of 0.28 μA cm −2 and 1.74 μW cm −3 , respectively, were observed for the 10 wt % composite (Figure S32). The performance of the DPDP⋅PF 6 /PDMS system is fairly comparable to several composites derived from ferroelectric (organic–inorganic and inorganic) non‐piezoelectric polymer materials …”

“…Various non‐centrosymmetric piezoelectric materials such as lead zirconate titanate (PZT), [ 8–12 ] quartz, [ 13 ] zinc oxide (ZnO), [ 3,14–16 ] barium titanate (BaTiO 3 , BTO), [ 17–22 ] zinc sulfide (ZnS), [ 23–24 ] polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), [ 25,26 ] etc. are widely used for PENGs.…”

“…However there are plenty of approaches toward enforcement of piezoelectric performance of perovskite, including poling in a strong electrical field [219]. As mentioned above, application of a highly piezoelectric junction, like a metal oxide wire [220], and combination with piezoelectric polymers such as PVDF (Polyvinylidene fluoride) [221,222] could be reasonable approaches. However, the latter approach seems to be associated with technical challenges.…”
