Abstract

ITP is the program that monitors the trends in indicators of industry performance as a means to confirm that the safety of the operating power plants is being maintained 2 Because PIs in the reactor safety area are regarded as the most important [1] type of PI, the threshold evaluation was limited to PIs in the reactor safety area and the evaluation of PI thresholds in the radiation safety areas remains a future study to be undertaken. 3 Other remaining initiating events that contribute approximately 40% of the CDF, such as medium and large LOCAs and interfacing system LOCAs, have been excluded in the BRIIE because it was revealed that these events are rare and would not generally be expected over the lifetime of the NPPs.
