“…The specific surface area and porosity of Zn/Co-MOF and Zn/Co-MOF derived nanoporous carbon (NPC) and metal oxides were characterized by nitrogen adsorption/desorption measurements at 77 K and pore size distributions (PSDs) analysis. As depicted in Figure 4A , all the samples show obvious hysteresis loop at the relative pressure range of 0.48–0.99 between the adsorption and desorption branches, so these isotherms can be classified into a type IV curve according to the IUPAC definition and classification (He et al, 2019 , 2020 ). The presence of a hysteresis loop suggested that there are a number of mesopores in these samples.…”

“…However, most nitrogen self‐doped BDCs suffer from low nitrogen contents, negatively affecting the electrochemical performances. Thus, the nitrogen sources, such as melamine, 74,75,118,175 urea, 96,176–178 dicyandiamide, 83 ammonia, 179 polyethylenimine, 176 and ammonium chloride, 180 are widely used to increase the nitrogen content in BDCs. In this regard, BDC from peanut shell has shown nitrogen‐doped porous structure with specific surface area of 1442 m 2 ·g –1 and nitrogen content of 3.2 at.%, leading to the higher specific capacitance of 216 F·g –1 when compared to the material without nitrogen‐doping (167 F·g –1 ).…”

“…Chemical surface modification of AC can be achieved by the addition of chemical agents (i.e., nitric acid (HNO 3 ), hydrogen peroxide(H 2 O 2 ), sulfuric acid (H 2 SO 4 ) [ 126 , 127 ], ammonium peroxydisulfate, melamine [ 128 ] and ammonia (NH 3 ) [ 129 ], etc.) to introduce acidic (oxygen-containing) or basic (nitrogen-containing) functional groups.…”
