A Dynamic Model of the Flapper-Nozzle Component of an Electrohydraulic Servovalve

Abstract: An analysis has been conducted on the flapper-nozzle stage of a two-stage electrohydraulic controller that has been specifically designed to be a stable, stand-alone dynamic system. Calculations performed on equilibrium control pressures, stage gain, and frequency response characteristics agree with values obtained experimentally to within close limits. The analysis applies generally to a flapper-nozzle combination using any set of dimensions convenient for the designer. Flow-pressure equations and flapper dyn… Show more

“…Several studies have been proposed to model servovalves, using analytical, CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) and/or FEM (Finite Element Method) approaches (Lin and Akers, 1989, Hiremath, 2013, Urata et al, 2008, Ghasemi et al, 2008, Di Rito and Galatolo, 2008, El-Araby et al, 2011, Gordić et al, 2004, Maré and Attar, 2008, Hiremath and Singaperumal, 2010. In this section, analytical models are considered.…”

“…Typically, these models are assembled from component models, including hydraulic pumps, valves, channels, and hydraulic cylinders, see, e.g., Refs. [14][15][16][17][18][19] for examples. Furthermore, a model of the dynamic characteristics of the variator is required [20] for the description of the interaction between the primary hydraulic circuit and the secondary hydraulic circuit that is introduced by the pushbelt.…”

“…In view of the problem that the traditional servo valve modeling method cannot describe the servo valve system from the component level, the object-oriented Modelica modeling language is used to model the entire valve [5]. Considering the nonlinear terms that are often limited in establishing the description equations, Dasgupta and Murrenhoff [6] used a Bond diagram technique to establish a comprehensive dynamic model of the hydraulic motor drive system.Using the bond graph method has the advantage of dealing with complex systems with multiple energy domains.…”
