A Dual Ultra Wide Band Slotted Antenna for C and X Bands Application

Abstract: Abstract-In this paper, a novel compact dual-band microstrip antenna operating at two different bands, namely, C-band and X-band is presented and analyzed. The dual ultra wide band is realized by cutting two triangular slots on the right and on the left sides of the patch and a rectangular slot on the top side of the patch. The antenna structure is optimized and simulated using commercial software. The excitation is launched through a 50 Ohms microstrip-line. According to simulation and measured results the pr… Show more

“…Furthermore, the patch antenna is construct from conductive material; the substrate dielectric constant ϵ r is generally in the range 2.2 ≤ ϵ r ≤ 12 and the height ℎ usually in range 0.003λ 0 ≤ λ 0 ≤ 0.05λ 0 ; where λ 0 is the free space wave length λ 0 = 0.145. To achieve multi-application operation with different frequencies at the same time, we use a multiband antenna where the same antenna can be used to operate at multiple frequencies [9][10][11]. This reduces the manufacturing costs by avoiding space limitation problems and minimizing the antenna size.…”

“…This creates a space limiting problem and increases the device size, which invariably results in increased manufacturing cost. To overcome this problem, we use a multiband antenna where the same antenna can be used to operate at multiple frequencies [4], [5]. In a dual-band patch antenna, the same antenna operates at two different resonant frequencies and thus reduces the size of the antenna [6]- [9].…”

“…When compared with other microstrip dual band antenna our antenna possesses the advantage of not only having a broad bandwidth, high gain but also a smaller size [5]- [9].…”

“…The high gain is maintained via the combined use of the MEMS, parasitics, and AMC structures. The proposed antenna is designed to operate at the frequency of 9.41 GHz (X-band) due to its allocation for ranging and detection system applications [33]. The organization of the paper is as follows.…”
