A DSP-Based Switching Motor Controller

Abstract: This paper describes a novel methodology for development of real-time control design and implementation of switching control law with particular emphasis on laboratory environment. The switching controller is formulated and implemented in real-time, using the position control of a brushless dc motor drive system as a testbed. The design, analysis, and implementation stages are carried out entirely using a dSPACE DS1104 digital signal processor (DSP)-based real-time data acquisition control (DAC) system, and MA… Show more

“…With the advancement in the processing capabilities and actuator systems the need for optimization [10], digital signal processing [11] and reduction in computation burden has emerged as an important issue which require massive attention. The concept of DSP-based switching motor controller is reported in literature [12] and further improvement is also reported using genetic optimization [13] and fuzzy-neural-network controller [14] reported improvement on PI controller, as aforesaid associated with highly computer intensive algorithms, which, with the presently available digital signal processor or microcontroller unit (MCU) can not be implement in real time. This required highly parallel super computers to actually implement in conformity with simulation and is defiantly vary costly.…”
