A double-superposition global–local theory for vibration and dynamic buckling analyses of viscoelastic composite/sandwich plates: a complex modulus approach

Abstract: A higher-order global-local theory is proposed based on the double-superposition concept for free vibration and dynamic buckling analyses of viscoelastic composite/sandwich plates subjected to thermomechanical loads. In contrast to all theories proposed so far for analysis of the viscoelastic plates, the continuity conditions of the transverse shear and normal stresses at the layer interfaces and the nonzero traction conditions at the top and bottom surfaces of the sandwich plates are satisfied. Another novelt… Show more

“…In 2011, Shariyat [26][27][28] successively developed a nonlinear double-superposition global-local theory for dynamic buckling of imperfect viscoelastic composite/sandwich plates: A hierarchical constitutive model and a double-superposition global-local theory for vibration and dynamic buckling analyses of viscoelastic composite/sandwich plates: a complex modulus approach. Then, a high-order double-superposition global-local theory inherently suitable for nonlinear analyses was proposed and employed for nonlinear dynamic buckling and postbuckling analyses of imperfect viscoelastic composite/sandwich cylindrical shells subjected to thermo harmonic excitation loads by him.…”

“…PU elastomer is significantly viscoelastic with high damping characteristics. erefore, a PU elastomer core can potentially raise the noise isolation and damping behaviors of the whole SPS structure [3]. In shipbuilding, stiffeners are usually bonded with steel plates or sandwich plates to increase the stiffness of the whole structure under variable loads.…”

“…Metal layers have been applied in conventional fiber-reinforced polymers to improve the impact resistance [17]. Other structures, such as particle-reinforced [18,19], sandwich plate [20,21], and three-dimensional (3D) fabric [22,23] structures, have been developed in recent years.…”
