A Cu(ii) complex supported on Fe3O4@SiO2 as a magnetic heterogeneous catalyst for the reduction of environmental pollutants

Abstract: Nitro-aromatic-pollutants are hazardous to people and the environment. In this work, the catalytic potential of CM@SS-BBTU-Cu(ii) has been investigated for reduction of nitro group in aqueous media by NaBH4.

Polymers with acidic protons in their structures and ionic liquid-polymer composites have found applications in fuel cells, in biomedical applications, and as catalysts [30][31][32][33][34] and different methods such as grafting, crosslinking, and functionalization procedures have been developed to produce such materials.…”

“…The benzoylthiourea derivatives have more than one potential atom for coordination with oxygen, nitrogen, and sulfur atoms and thus can act as monodentate, bidentate, or polydentate ligands 11–14 . Recently, transition group metal complexes that are functionalized with aryl or acyl benzoylthiourea derivatives have been affirmed to be extremely effective in the field of catalysis 1,9,14–18 . The reduction of aromatic nitro compounds to aromatic amino compounds is one of the most important reactions in the chemical industry 19,20 because amino compounds are important intermediates in the preparation of agrochemicals, dyes, pigments, and pharmaceuticals 21–23 .…”
