This study belongs to qualitative- content analysis focusing on the illocutionary speech acts in video podcasts of Najwa Shihab. Data were collected from her interview with one of the invited guests which were subsequently coded and categorized into illocutionary types: representative, directive, commissive, and expressive. To know the distribution of each type, the frequency and percentage were counted simultaneously. The results of the analysis revealed that directive acts were the most frequently used and followed by representative, commissive, and expressive acts. These findings are of benefit to have a comprehensive understanding of the speech acts productions employed by Najwa Shihab in her video podcasts. In addition, the findings provide constructive dynamic strategies in communication and pedagogical implication in language teaching.

The importance of linguistics is not just for EFL teachers to assist in mastering the concept of teaching. However, the understanding of linguistics should be started with the introductory for EFL Students as a fundamental course to help them build their understanding regarding what they are studying including the trends and gaps of the study in that context. This study aims to analyse trends and gaps in studies regarding teaching linguistics as a subject taught to EFL Students at the university level. This qualitative research applied bibliometrics analysis by collecting relevant studies taken from Publish or Perish and manage to collect 599 articles related to teaching linguistics from Google Scholar, Scopus, and Web of Science databases ranging from 2018-2022; by applying exclusion and inclusion criteria, 367 articles were selected to be analysed using VOSviewer. The result showed the terms for the classroom, technology, foreign language, type, attitude, and literature are the most frequent and mostly discussed by the researchers. While in terms of solution, exploration, contribution, learning process, perception, difficulty, and text seems still gaining less attention compare the others. Therefore, these spots can be seen as research topic opportunity for future researchers to finding the niche. These result implies and also highlights that there are still many interesting topic to be explored regarding the scope of linguistics in language learning.

Female undergraduates' refusal speech is regarded as an independent perspective in the study of speech acts as a unit of communication. From the gender perspective and ethnography of communication, women language is included as a classic study on the variety of language that has different characteristic and specification as a gender marker. The local accent and dialect used by women in Central Sulawesi have unique trait when they are used in a conversation with local language as a heritage. This study aims to identify the form, strategy, and context for expressing refusal towards an instruction, invitation, request, and the others with a qualitative approach a sociopragmatics especially ethnography communication in the analyzing process. Substantively, the result shows that the form, strategy, and context for expressing refusal can be realized by using negation and requirement marker as well as by certain mode of refusal either it is direct or indirect. Topic and participant, as a part of the context, influence the women's choice of expression. As a verbal expression, refusal speech by women in the spoken academic discourse in Central Sulawesi is also influenced by the level of intimacy, sociocultural aspect, and multi-ethnical context, and social change.
