A critical review of supply chain management frameworks: proposed framework

Abstract: Purpose -The literature of supply chain management (SCM) is burgeoning with frameworks but there has been no attempt in extant literature to highlight the inconsistencies present in existing SCM frameworks. The purpose of this paper is to identify these inconsistencies by critically reviewing 57 SCM framework articles. Based on the results of reviewing these articles, an attempt is made to propose a framework that possibly suggests a way to achieve coherency in use of SCM frameworks, and hence help researchers… Show more

“…From the theoretical point of view, inconsistent frameworks on supply chain management have been presented due to the incoherent use of elements or constructs in the development of these models. Thus, further studies on supply chain management should be led to a unified theory that contemplates coherent elements in these frameworks (Soni & Kodali, 2013).…”

“…Anand and Kodali (2009) have reported that the organization management uses the framework as a guiding torch to the managers to implement various elements and also to define the relationship between elements to achieve organizational objectives. Recently, Soni and Kodali (2011) have reviewed the literature to identify supply chain management framework. According to them, the framework should contain the following characteristics:…”
