Background: Hemodialysis patients deal with some psychological and social problems. These problems may be the predictors of hope. This study aimed to determine the psychosocial, spiritual, and biomedical predictors of hope in hemodialysis patients. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 350 hemodialysis patients in hemodialysis centers affiliated to Shiraz University of Medical Sciences. Adult Hope Scale, Depression Anxiety Stress Scales, Personal Resources Questionnaire-85, Spiritual Well-Being Scale, and biomedical markers were used for data collection. The data were entered into the SPSS 22 software and were analyzed using Pearson's correlation coefficient and linear regression analysis. Results: The mean score of hope was 28.54 (SD=5.27). The mean scores of depression, anxiety, and stress were 17.87 (SD=7.62), 13.12 (SD=3.47), and 12.99 (SD=3.88), respectively. The mean scores of social support and spiritual well-being were 126.35 (SD=17.53) and 74.02 (SD=5.84), respectively. The means of biomedical markers including interdialytic weight gain, urea nitrogen, creatinine, phosphate, sodium, and potassium were 2.10 (SD=1.04), 51.55 (SD=13.10), 6.98 (SD=2.48), 4.71 (SD=1.08), 139.32 (SD=4.91), and 4.87 (SD=0.93), respectively. The results revealed a significant association between hope and depression, anxiety, stress, social support, and spiritual well-being (p<0.05). In addition, stress (β=−0.14, p=0.01), anxiety (β=−0.20, p=0.002), and social support (β=0.49, p<0.001) were the predictors of hope. Conclusion: The hemodialysis patients reported moderate levels of hope, social support, anxiety, and depression. In addition, most of them adhered to dietary and fluid restrictions. Considering the association between hope and social support, spiritual well-being, anxiety, depression, and stress, using some interventions regarding the mentioned variables might increase hope among hemodialysis patients.

The study aims to understand the lived self-care experiences of patients who have undergone long-term haemodialysis. The study adopts a qualitative phenomenological design. Data were collected for six months, from 1 July to 31 December 2020. Out of 90 outpatients in a haemodialysis clinic at a university hospital in Seoul, Korea, 11 patients who had received haemodialysis for more than 10 years were purposefully selected, and 9 of them took part in in-depth interviews. The main research question was, ‘What was the experience of surviving long-term haemodialysis?’ The study revealed four main themes surrounding the topic of self-care: (A) the desire to keep living despite challenges, (B) creating one’s own dietary principles, (C) moving one’s body with the remaining strength, and (D) moving toward independence. In the long-term self-care of haemodialysis patients, they shared personal observations on their disease and treatment process and their struggles to try to manage their own physical and emotional self-care. By exploring the experience of long-term haemodialysis, it is possible to gain a deeper understanding of their perceptions, emotions, and motivations. With this information, healthcare professionals can develop interventions and support strategies that are tailored to the specific needs of haemodialysis patients.

Spirituality means an area of life that needs to be developed in order to make easier the process of adaptation in a world full of various factors which influence everyday living. The religious coping is the way that connects inner self with the world in order to overcome difficulties by finding God as a source of power. A progressive relation with God is a solution for the well-being state of mind, soul and body. The purpose of this paper was to underline the spiritual necessities of people during hard life situations as well as an initial point for further researches related with the role of spiritual beliefs in adaptation. In order to achieve our goals we wanted to see the influence of the religious adaptative coping in the determination of personal development, an important factor which describe psychological well-being. The subjects of our research were people who were Co-vid 19 positive tested. We used psychometrical methods in order to determine their adaptative religious coping mechanisms, as well as their personal development level. The research was done on a 160 group of subjects, with ages between 17-58 years old, all roumanians, all of them being positive tested with Covid 19. The results of our research showed us that personal development is determined by the religious adaptative coping.
