For a single-phase active power filter (APF), designing a more efficient algorithm to guarantee accurate and fast harmonics extraction with a lower computing cost is still a meaningful topic. The common idea still employs a IRPT-based Park transform, which was originally designed for 3-phase applications. Therefore, an additional virtual signal generation (VSG) link is necessary when it is used in the single-phase condition. This method, with virtual signal generation and transform, is obviously not the most efficient one. Regarding this problem, this paper proposes a novel harmonics extraction algorithm to further improve efficiency. The new algorithm is based on the principle of trigonometric orthogonal functions (TOF), and its mathematical principle and physical meaning are introduced in detail. Its implementation and superiority in terms of computation efficiency are analyzed by comparing it with conventional methods. Finally, its effectiveness is well validated through detailed simulations and laboratory experiments.

Abstract. In this paper, a review of Phase Locked Loop (PLL) algorithms and symmetrical component extraction methods intended for grid-connected power electronic converters are presented. Proposed classification is based on voltage representation in three coordinates: natural (abc), stationary (αβ) and rotating coordinates (dq). The three selected algorithms are described in details: Dual Second Order Generalized Integrator (DSOGI-PLL), Dual Virtual Flux -both in stationary coordinates. The third one, in rotating dq coordinates, is Dual Synchronous Reference Frame PLL (DSRF-PLL). A comparison of PLL algorithms is presented. Also, selected experimental results are given to verify practical application of discussed algorithms.

MemberAn advanced single-phase active power filter for the compensation of instantaneous harmonic components in nonlinear load current is presented in this paper. A novel signal processing technique using adaptive neural network algorithm is applied and evaluated for the on-line detection of instantaneous harmonic current components generated by nonlinear loads And the feasibility of this adaptive neural network algorithm is substantially confirmed from an experimental point of view.
