A Control-Oriented Coverage Metric and its Evaluation for Hardware Designs

Abstract: Problem statement: Dynamic verification, the use of simulation to determine design correctness, is widely used due to its tractability for large hardware designs. A serious limitation of dynamic techniques is the difficulty in determining whether or not a test sequence is sufficient to detect all likely design errors. Coverage metrics are used to address this problem by providing a set of goals to be achieved during the simulation process; if all coverage goals are satisfied then the test se… Show more

“…Such a venture would produce a blueprint or conceptual map similar to blueprints of construction projects. Additional study can pursue application of the FM-based methodology to technical issues in VLSI design (Teymourzadeh et al, 2010), other engineering descriptions (Azadeh and Ghaderi, 2006;Verma et al, 2009;Haddad, 2009) and management (Papadamou and Stephanides, 2004;Ismail et al, 2010). …”

“…The Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) offers a potential substitute to accelerate the hardware implementation (Coussy et al, 2009;Marufuzzaman et al, 2010;Reaz et al, 2007b;Verma et al, 2009). FPGA has the merits of shorter design, higher density and lower cost cycle from the point of computer-aided design (Choong et al, 2005;Akter et al, 2008;ElGizawy et al, 2010).…”
