The use of Project Governance Practices (PGPs) is increasingly taking a substantial stage in developing economies, particularly in a newly industrializing nation like Sri Lanka where public sector development projects have been implemented to expedite the nation's growth and prosperity. As it is essential to lay a transparent and tangible foundation for an effective public sector that can be sustained, the paper focuses on the significance of PGPs in enhancing the performance of the Sri Lankan public sector development initiatives. Structuring, normalizing, facilitating, and post-conflict-sensitive variables were used to measure the PGPs, whereas financial and non-financial performance measures were employed to evaluate the project performance. The researcher conducted direct observations and administered a comprehensive Likert-scaled questionnaire to 518 project administrators involved in various Sri Lankan public sector development projects, specifically focusing on projects related to irrigation, roads and highways, water and sanitation, and other infrastructure developmental projects. The data was analyzed using the structural equation modeling through the AMOS software. The results showed that PGPs created a considerable improvement in project performance, which increased support for expanding economic prosperity through balanced development strategies and sustainability-based policy formation. Background: The Covid-19 may be a great opportunity for humane solidarity to decrease the prevalence of disease, but it could also be a threat to protests due to the deteriorating economic situation. Hence, the objective of this research was to determine the peaceful and violent effects of the Covid-19 outbreak worldwide. The expansion ofCovid-19 can have various peaceful and violent effects in terms of solidarity, collapse of tourism, and internal and foreign conflicts. Methods: In the current study, a meta-analysis was performed to synthesize the results of 34 original studies published for the last year (from January 2020 to April 2021). Results: The findings showed that the outbreak of the Covid-19 would lead to greater solidarity and more collapse of tourism. The meta-regression findings showed that spread of the Covid-19 significantly affects internal and foreign conflicts even through recession and unemployment. However, there is no considerable impact of the Covid-19 on internal and foreign conflicts considering health status. In terms of the spatiotemporal impacts of spread of the Covid-19, the collapse of tourism has the greatest temporal effect, and European countries show the most spatial effects. Conclusions: Therefore, this study recommends economic decision-makers to financially support social groups working together against the Covid-19. In addition, decision-makers in the field of health must consider that services in the tourism sector should be provided by observing health protocols such as low passenger capacity, use of hygienic materials and disinfectants, and compliance with social distance.

This study aims to identify physical conflict management and avoidance between ethnic groups in transmigration settlements. Using a qualitative approach with data collection techniques comprised of observation and in-depth interviews, this research uses interpretive understanding for analyzing the data. Both macro-level and micro-level theories are applied in this research to analyze the interconnections of structure and agency. The fundamental question to be answered in this study is what causes conflicts between ethnic groups in transmigration settlement sites and how ethnic group citizens manage conflicts so that they do not become open conflicts and remain coexistent. Results show that the sources of conflict include the legal uncertainty of land ownership and the lack of social platforms for different ethnic groups to interact and discuss the problems. Social disparities between ethnic groups and differences in values and norms also contribute to the conflict. However, there was a potential for cooperation between ethnic groups. The different ethnic groups tend to restrain themselves and prevent violent conflict. The ethnic communities managed the conflict by ignoring disputes and making compromises to avoid open disagreements. These compromises involved lowering the demands and expectations of the object of conflict; the strategy manages the disputes and helps to reduce open disagreements and support multiethnic communities. In order for the ethnic groups involved in the conflict to negotiate and compromise, the availability of social space plays a pivotal role.
