A Comprehensive Survey of Video Encryption Algorithms

Abstract: Encryption is the widely used technique to offer security for video communication and considerable numbers of video encryption algorithms have been proposed. The paper explores the literature for already proposed video encryption algorithms with the focus on the working principle of already proposed video encryption schemes. This study is aimed to give readers a quick overview about various video encryption algorithms proposed so far. General TermsEncryption, video security, video encryption metric, compressio… Show more

“…Anat Levin, Assaf Zomet, Shmuel Peleg, and Yair Weiss GIST: Gradient Domain Image stitching (GIST 1, GIST 2) This method brings in a new way of obtaining mosaic images, i-e. using cost functions [3]. These cost functions are optimized to get greater similarity of mosaic with the input images and also the least visibility of seam.…”

“…Video encrypting algorithms are classified into five categories according to the approach of encryption information which are fully (completely) layered encryption, scrambling base encrypting, selective encryption, perceptual encryption, and chaotic encryption [7]. As explained from this classification, it has been proved that the completely layered video encryption has produced the highest level of video security, but it was computationally expensive because of its slow nature in processing the very large volume of video data and has in return limited its use in video encryption [8].…”

“…Aside from the fact that images require the less cognitive load to understand, a digital image can produce at a glance information that can be spread across about ten pages in a book [3]. However, owing to the rapid developments in the efficient internet technologies and compression techniques the need for securing digital images during transmission and storage cannot be overemphasized [1], [4]- [7]. The main idea behind image security includes confidentiality, authentication, conditional access, integrity, content tracking, and copy control [7]- [9].…”
