A Comprehensive Study on the Effect of Regular and Staggered Openings on the Seismic Performance of Shear Walls

Abstract: Shear walls have high strength and stiffness, which could be used at the same time to resist large horizontal loads and weight loads, making them pretty beneficial in several structural engineering applications. The shear walls could be included with openings, such as doors and windows, for relevant functional requirements. In the current study, a building of G + 13 stories with RC shear walls with and without openings has been investigated using ETABS Software. The seismic analysis is carried out for the dete… Show more

“…The dosage and type of alkaline sol affect the generation of Si 4+ and Al 3+ from FA during geopolymerization. A dosage of alkaline sol is typically advantageous for achieving high CS [ 3 , 142 , 155 , 156 , 157 , 158 , 159 , 160 , 161 , 162 , 163 , 164 , 165 ]; however, there is an ideal limit [ 166 ]. For instance, by raising the NaOH content from 4.5 to 16.5 M, Somna, Jaturapitakkul, Kajitvichyanukul, and Chindaprasirt [ 157 ] looked into the CS of ground FA (GFA) that had been treated at room temperature.…”

“…The most utilized construction material is concrete because of its performance, cost, ability to form different shapes, and availability of raw materials locally [ 1 , 2 , 3 ]. However, the increasing demand for concrete for various construction applications has led to a corresponding high consumption of raw materials utilized in the manufacture of concrete [ 1 , 4 , 5 ].…”

“…Glass has a high enough percentage of silica to be used instead of fine aggregate [20,29,35]. This lessens the GW that pollutes landfills and might lessen the amount of river sand required for construction, which would bring down the cost of installation [36,37]. Shattered glass of less than 75 microns in size may also be used as a PC substitute in applications where pozzolanic properties are desired.…”

“…As a result, the resilience of a concrete building is evaluated by how well it can withstand particular exposure circumstances without requiring costly rehabilitation or maintenance (Ma et al, 2017;Althoey and Hakeem, 2022;Hakeem et al, 2022d). Concrete is described as a composite material that can last for many decades, if not hundreds, with little or no maintenance (Saeed et al, 2022a;Hakeem et al, 2022b;Qaidi et al, 2022b;Zeybek et al, 2022). Standard concrete is composed of cement, coarse aggregate, and fine aggregate without reinforcing steel (Hakeem et al, 2022a;Althoey et al, 2022b).…”
