A Comprehensive Method to Evaluate Ride Comfort of Autonomous Vehicles under Typical Braking Scenarios: Testing, Simulation and Analysis

Abstract: To highlight the advantages of autonomous vehicles (AVs) in modern traffic, it is necessary to investigate the sensing requirement parameters of the road environment during the vehicle braking process. Based on the texture information obtained using a field measurement, the braking model of an AV was built in Simulink and the ride comfort under typical braking scenarios was analyzed using CarSim/Simulink co-simulation. The results showed that the proposed brake system for the AV displayed a better performance … Show more

“…In the experiment, different brake pressures were used to obtain multiple groups of CI values. The two-dimensional table of CI and time was observed to analyze the smoothness of automated vehicles during braking [16]. Bachmann et al proposed a method to evaluate the perception of automated vehicles in 1/10 urban scenes by comparing the percentage of time required to cross the lane line with full sensors and with one sensor missing; they evaluated and compared the positioning of target detectors and various sensor fusion configurations based on cameras and LiDAR [17].…”

“…Для оцінки ефективності гальмування ТЗ використовують як засоби моделювання [4,5], так і традиційні дорожні випробування. Електричні ТЗ мають таку ж саму гальмівну ефективність [6,7], як і сучасні дорожні транспортні засоби.…”

“…A proactive guidance model with predicted traffic conditions and expected choices of drivers can potentially alleviate recurrent congestions or incident-induced impacts by adjusting control measures in advance. Thus, a system that is capable of providing predicted traffic information to drivers can provide a proactive route guidance mechanism that could decrease travel times [24]. Claes and Holvoet explained a proactive traffic route guidance system that utilizes an online embedded simulation distributed across road infrastructures, coupled with a delegate multi-agent system, all operating on the foundation of a symbiotic relationship [25].…”
