Technology development these days also gives a contribution to linguistic research. The technology makes linguist easier in collecting data for research. One of the developing linguistic research methods is a corpus-based study. This study uses a corpus linguistics tool to help in collecting and analyzing data. This research focuses on the adverb of degree in the Indonesian language and aims to investigate it syntactically. The adverb which uses in this research, is sangat as this adverb is used frequently in the Indonesian language. IndonesianWaC corpus from Sketch Engine (http://www.sketchengine.eu) is used to collect data and to see the words that are modified by sangat. Sangat is wellknown as a modifier of an adjective, but in reality, sangat also modifies a verb in the verbal phrase. Besides, this research attempts to analyze how the adverb of degree is generated in the syntactic tree by using the UDPipe tool as sangat is found modifying clause other than a phrase.

Predicative Clauses in Today Persian - A Typological Analysis

Predicative clauses in world languages encode differently. There are typological researches on this subject in other languages but none of them is on Persian. Stassen in his typological studies shows that the world languages have yielded two strategies for encoding predicative clauses. Copulative and locative/existential constructions are considered as predicative clauses. The strategies which Stassen claims are 'share' and 'split' strategies. According to Stassen some languages employ one of them and some employ both strategies. He shows in his studies, the language type can be determined by examining the said strategies in them. Using normal data, the present study examines two strategies for today Persian in order to determine its language type. The findings of the present study show that Persian could be categorized in both language types as both strategies are employed by it.

The Students’ Ability In Writing Skill: Using Personal Pronoun In Narrative text

This study aims to determine the students’ ability of second grade SMP Talitakum to use personal pronouns in narrative text. The subject of this study are students of second grade and the object of this study was the students' ability to use pronouns in narrative text. The sample of this study are 16 students. Data collection techniques in this study use test and interviews. Based on the data analyzed, the researchers concluded that the students' ability to use pronouns in the narrative text was 68.43% and the students' ability to use personal pronouns in the narrative text is 62.93%. The study concludes that the difficulty affecting students in using pronouns was a lack of understanding of pronouns and narrative text even though they had been taught by the teacher and the lack of grammar books.
