A comprehensive framework for context-aware communication services

Abstract: International audienceContext-Aware Communication (CAC) services enable end-devices or service platforms to adapt their comportment to sensed context information, either instantly or in a deferred way. There is today no available framework for supporting the development of CAC applications in a generic way. After surveying previous works, we propose here a new approach for classifying context-aware communication systems. Relying on this approach, we design a comprehensive framework based on a distributed servi… Show more

“…Surveys and comparisons of context-aware systems and models are presented in (Bolchini et al 2007). Chihani and Bertin (Chihani, Bertin, and Crespi 2011) give a new approach for classifying context-aware communication systems, where adaptation is performed based on how context is used. They identify services as Instant or Deferred and On Device or On Cloud based on their implementation instead of their functionalities.…”

“…One of the conceivable answers to reduce this measure of anxiety is to assign the power of interferences to the user's contact by distributed his contextual data. Distributed information will facilitate his contacts to assess the effect of interference by initiating created an interaction with him [15]. From this thought B. “…Figure 1 presents our cloud-based framework for managing contextual information at a large scale. The architecture expands the main components of an earlier context management framework, presented in [4], into smaller components implementing basic functionalities (e.g. sending notifications) and elastic enough to scale on demand.…”

“…Also, on this server is running CometD 3 server to play the role of the notification server, to send context updates to subscribed clients. For persistence, contextual information is stored on an object database DB4O 4 . A context provider and consumer were developed as simple java program to publish context and receive updates.…”
