We use the data of modern digital sky surveys (PanSTARRS-1, SDSS) combined with H I-line and far ultraviolet (GALEX) surveys to reclassify 165 early-type galaxies from the Catalog of Isolated Galaxies (KIG). As a result, the number of E-and S0-type galaxies reduced to 91. Our search for companions of earlytype KIG galaxies revealed 90 companions around 45 host galaxies with line-of-sight velocity differences km s -1 and linear projected separations kpc. We found no appreciable differences in either integrated luminosity or color of galaxies associated with the presence or absence of close neighbors. We found a characteristic orbital mass-to-luminosity ratio for 26 systems "KIG galaxy-companion" to be , which is consistent with the estimates for early-type isolated galaxies in the 2MIG catalog (), and also with the estimates for E-and S0-type galaxies in the Local Volume:(NGC 3115), (NGC 5128), (NGC 4594). The high halo-to-stellar mass ratio for E-and S0-type galaxies compared to the average ratio for bulgeless spiral galaxies is indicative of a significant difference between the dynamic evolution of early-and late-type galaxies.

We aim to refine the sample of isolated early‐type galaxies in the Analysis of the interstellar Medium of Isolated Galaxies (AMIGA) catalog via high‐resolution imaging. Here, we report the result from a pilot study investigating two candidates, KIG 685 and KIG 895, in K‐band with the laser guide star and wavefront sensing facility ARGOS using the Large Binocular Telescope (LBT). Observations, obtained during the commissioning time, achieved a point spread function (PSF) of ≈0.25″. We present the data reduction and the PSF analysis from the best closed‐loop exposures to investigate the galaxies' morphological structure, including their nuclear region. We used PROFILER for the decomposition of the azimuthal 1D light distribution and GALFIT for the 2D analysis, accounting for ARGOS's PSF. KIG 685 was found to be a S0 galaxy and has been modeled with two Sérsic components representing a pseudobulge (n1D = 2.87 ± 0.21, n2D = 2.29 ± 0.10) and a disk (n1D = 0.95 ± 0.16, n2D = 0.78 ± 0.10). Nearly symmetric ring‐/shell‐like structures emerge after subtracting the GALFIT model from the image. KIG 895 shows a clear irregular arm‐like structure, in which the northern outer arm is reminiscent of a tail. The galaxy body is a disk, best fitted by a single Sérsic profile (n1D = 1.22 ± 0.1; n2D = 1.32 ± 0.12), that is, KIG 895 is a bulge‐less, very late‐type spiral. ARGOS high‐resolution images clearly showed interaction signatures in KIG 895. We suggest that the ring‐/shell‐like residuals in KIG 685, a bona fide early‐type galaxy, point toward a past accretion event.

The census of stellar tidal streams around nearby massive galaxies has significantly grown from recent deep imaging of the low-surface brightness sky. In this work we study the striking case of a blue narrow stream with a possible globular clusterlike progenitor around the Milky Way-size galaxy NGC 7241 and its foreground dwarf companion. We present a follow-up spectroscopic study of this stream based on data taken with the MEGARA instrument at the 10.4-m Gran Telescopio Canarias using the integral field spectroscopy mode. Although our data suggest that this compact object in the stream is actually a foreground Milky Way halo star, we detect emission lines overlapping a less compact, bluer and fainter blob of the stream that is clearly visible in both ultra-violet and optical deep images. From its heliocentric systemic radial velocity derived from the [O ]𝜆5007Å lines (𝑉 syst = 1548.58±1.80 km s −1 ) and new UV and optical broad-band photometry, we conclude that this over-density could be the actual core of the stream, with an absolute magnitude of M𝑔 ∼ -10 and a 𝑔 − 𝑟 = 0.08 ± 0.11, consistent with a remnant of a low-mass dwarf satellite undergoing a current episode of star formation. From the width of the stream and assuming a circular orbit, we calculate that the progenitor mass is between 6.4 × 10 6 M − 2.7 × 10 7 M , which is typical of a dwarf galaxy, but its mass could be substantially lower if the stream is on a very radial orbit. These estimates also suggest that this is one of the lowest mass streams detected so far beyond the Local Group. We find that blue stellar streams containing star formation regions are commonly predicted by high-resolution cosmological simulations of galaxies lighter than the Milky Way. This scenario is consistent with the processes explaining the bursty star formation history of some dwarf satellites, which are followed by a gas depletion and a fast quenching once they enter within the virial radius of their host galaxies for the first time. Thus, it is likely that the stream's progenitor is suffering a star-formation burst comparable to those that have shaped the star-formation history of several Local Group dwarfs in the last few Gigayears.
