Early-Type (E, S0) Galaxies in the Catalog of Isolated Galaxies (KIG)

Abstract: We use the data of modern digital sky surveys (PanSTARRS-1, SDSS) combined with H I-line and far ultraviolet (GALEX) surveys to reclassify 165 early-type galaxies from the Catalog of Isolated Galaxies (KIG). As a result, the number of E-and S0-type galaxies reduced to 91. Our search for companions of earlytype KIG galaxies revealed 90 companions around 45 host galaxies with line-of-sight velocity differences km s -1 and linear projected separations kpc. We found no appreciable differences in either integrated … Show more

“…and 〈M T /L K 〉 = 74 ± 26(M e /L e ) (Karachentseva et al 2021a). For 60 isolated ET galaxies from the 2MIG catalog, in which the radial velocities of satellites were measured, the median parameters are log(L K /L e ) = 11.13 and M T /L K = 63 (M e /L e ) (Karachentseva et al 2011).…”

“…Their location in the lower environment allows one to study the physical properties (star-formation rate, nuclear activity, morphological and multiwavelength features, mass distribution, interstellar medium, satellite galaxies at the outskirts of their host haloes, past merging, etc.) without the influence of significant neighboring galaxies as comparing with galaxies in the tightly populated groups or clusters (see, the pioneering works by Karachentseva [15][16][17] as well as other articles [6,12,14,18,27,28,30,39,40,43], e.g., in frame of the collaborative AMIGA project [33,34,37,47]. For example, a comprehensive analysis of the 2MASS Isolated Galaxy catalog (2MIG) in the near-infrared and optical ranges [28] has demonstrated a significant impact of the environment on the color parameters of isolated galaxies.…”
