A comparison of some integral methods

Abstract: The integral methods proposed to compute the kinetic pararoeters of heterogeneous reactions under non-isothermal conditions are usually worked byY~he help of the least squares method and the obtained correlation coefficient is taken as a criterion to choose the best integral method. An analysis of several experimental data by mean of three different integral methods was performed by us and the results pointed out that this criterion, by itself, is not enough to provide reliable information on the kinetic parame… Show more

“…The kinetic parameters for the evaporation process of Sc(tmhd) 3 are determined using the CR method for all model functions used in this work and given in Table 2 with their linear correlation coefficient (r) values. 38 validity of the reaction model functions was tested using a statistical F-test. 39 A single function cannot be discriminated because the fivephase boundary and diffusion models seem to be statistically equivalent fitting models.…”

“…Table shows the theoretical kinetic model function g (α) employed for the kinetic analysis. The validity of the reaction model functions was tested using a statistical F -test .…”

“…The other common method for determining kinetic parameters from non-isothermal data is to use an integral method. There are a few different versions of an integrated form that can be cast into a similar form . This method trades the simpler but imprecise derivative method for the solution to eq by integration.…”

“…The first term on the right-hand side is relatively constant and yields the pre-exponential factor. Other forms of the integral method are some variation of eq with differing assumptions, leading to a variation of activation energies of about 10%. , The Coats and Redfern method is not the only form of the integral method, but it is commonly found in the literature. For example, Popescu et al compiled a table of some 16 techniques that can be classified as differential or integral.…”
