A Comparative Study on Two Types of Porcine Acellular Dermal Matrix Sponges Prepared by Thermal Crosslinking and Thermal-Glutaraldehyde Crosslinking Matrix Microparticles

Abstract: Common commercial porcine acellular dermal matrix (PADM) products take the form of a thin membrane. Given its dense structure, delaying vascularization after implantation remains an issue to be solved. In addition, overlaying multiple sheets to address deep wounds and large tissue defects that are difficult to repair by self-tissues could hinder tissue ingrowth, angiogenesis, and integration. Here, we creatively prepared PADM microparticles through a homogenizing treatment and crosslinked them to ADM sponges b… Show more

“…Only a few comparative studies on ADMs have been published so far on ADM efficacy and potential morphological differences in the neoformed tissue [ 47 , 48 ]. Some of those data specifically focus on Matriderm and Integra, which currently represent two widely used dermal regenerative templates.…”

“…37,38 The smaller the contact angle, the better the hydrophilicity. The water contact angles of the small intestinal submucosa (SIS) and the porcine acellular dermal matrix (PADM) are 105.3° and 119.4°, 39,40 respectively. The contact angle of the smooth side of the DBM is 88.95° and that of the loose side is 74.05°, indicating that the DBM has high hydrophilicity.…”
