A compact high-energy neutron spectrometer

Abstract: A compact liquid organic neutron spectrometer (CLONS) based on a single NE213 liquid scintillator (5 cm diam. x 5 cm) is described. The spectrometer is designed to measure neutron fluence spectra over the energy range 2-200 MeV and is suitable for use in neutron fields having any type of time structure. Neutron fluence spectra are obtained from measurements of two-parameter distributions (counts versus pulse height and pulse shape) using the Bayesian unfolding code MAXED. Calibration and test measurements made… Show more

“…All three methods produce similar quality of PSD to digital methods previously presented [23,25,12] and have been shown for the first time to produce PSD at higher energies of a quality similar to the state-of-the-art in analogue implementation of PSD [26]. Neutron energy spectra derived from these data (Fig.…”

“…The GDOS technique has been used for neutron spectrometry at JET [31,32] and in various nuclear and particle physics experiments, see e.g. [33]. The instrument response of GDOSs to a mono-energetic neutron emission is typically box-shaped.…”
