“…Others compared the Monte Carlo calculations with measured depth dose distributions and dose profiles. 6,7 A solution to validate the detector model is the method proposed by Granton et al 8 which consists of recording image intensities over a wide range of x-ray tube voltages and comparing them to predicted image intensities using the source and the detector models.…”

“…More advanced dosimetry techniques for small animal research may be based on using an imaging panel, in analogy with portal dosimetry in RT. 48,49 Recently, some advances were reported on motion management 33 and beam gating, 50 as well as progress in imaging, e.g. bioluminescence, 51,52 optical imaging and dualenergy CT. 53 These techniques, fully integrated in the novel precision irradiation cabinets, will be required to allow sophisticated radiation research that can be translated to the human level.…”

“…investigated the use of onboard imaging (OBI) for portal dosimetry. They simulated the X‐RAD 225Cx system including the OBI device to verify that the intended treatment plan agrees with the delivered dose based on agreement between simulated and experimentally acquired onboard images . In this work, we use an EPID to perform QA procedures.…”
