“…Although technical approaches of harvesting and grafting have been investigated to optimize the surgical protocol, methods to prepare fat prior to grafting remain controversial. Positive results have been reported with the use of fat processed by decantation, 13,14 washing with normal saline in a syringe or open air through a strainer, 15,16 centrifugation at low or high g-force, 17,18 and towel drying, in which fat is placed on a cotton towel, gauze, or Telfa to drain. 19 Supplementation with insulin, growth factors, human albumin, or plasmarich protein has also been used to improve graft retention.…”

“…82,84,[92][93][94][95][96] Of these techniques, only Telfa rolling has any evidence of improved retention over centrifugation, based on studies conducted in the nude mouse xenograft model. 84,97,98 However, the lack of human clinical trials also limits the generalizability of these findings.…”

“…Absorption of up to 80 % [3][4][5][6][7][8] of the transplanted volume makes the desire of achieving an ideal surgical outcome in a single operative procedure impossible. Lots of efforts have been made to improve this situation including harvest techniques, adipose tissue manipulations, injection skills, and other surgical approaches [7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15]. For the past decades, the perspective that neovascularization in the early phase is pivotal in improving adipocyte survival rate has been widely accepted [16][17][18].…”
