A chronicle of SARS-CoV-2: Part-I - Epidemiology, diagnosis, prognosis, transmission and treatment

Abstract: • Phylogeny of the SARS-CoV-2 is remarkably similar to SARS of pangolin and/or bat origin. • Transmission depends on respiratory droplet size, environmental condition and immunity. • COVID-19 progression is highly debated for temperature, humidity, and lifestyle dependence. • Infection can be restricted through restricting binding of S protein and AE2. • Increasing neutrophil and lymphocyte ratio (NLR) may give early sign of COVID-19.

“…The transmission could happen by having close contact with confirmed positive cases with a percentage of 60.4% and without a contact with percentage of 10.9% (15). Coronavirus can be transmitted from human to human through close contact by splashes of droplets when coughing and sneezing of an infected person (10,12,(16)(17)(18) especially at close distances (19), and can spread through aerosols (16). In addition, it was also mentioned that SARS-CoV-2 can spread through the air especially in the air of rooms that have limited ventilation (19).…”

“…The novel coronavirus (nCoV) belongs to the same subfamily of orthocoronavirinae as MERS-CoV and SARS-CoV. Still, it is distinctly disparate from the other members, in terms of its contagiousness and evolution rate [1][2][3]. While it is believed that infants and older people are more vulnerable to infection, young asymptomatic carriers are of significant concern as they aid in virus transmission without their knowledge [4].…”
