A butterfly-like slot UWB antenna with WLAN band-notch characteristics for MIMO applications

Abstract: An ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna with butterfly-like coupling slot for 4-element multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) applications is introduced in this letter. In the design of the UWB antenna unit, the proposed butterfly-like slot is adopted to improve the impedance matching and achieves the operating bandwidth of 3-12 GHz. At the same time, a symmetrical T-shaped meandering strip etched on the ground and connecting with the patch through via produces a notch at 5.1-5.37 GHz, which suppresses the signal inte… Show more

“…Likewise, a high radiation efficiency of ≥ 80% is observed for the passband while for the notch band the radiation efficiency decreases up to 20%, as depicted in Fig. 8 the proposed antenna, calculated using the far-field parameter by using the equations provided in [30]. The antenna offers a low ECC , 0.015 in the operational band along with a high diversity gain of ≥ 9.96 dB.…”

“…UWB with band rejection capabilities has been developed to reduce interference in wireless applications. To achieve these band rejection capabilities, several slits can be made in feed, ground, or patch [6]. Using a slot to boost bandwidth, a reduced antenna size was proposed in [7].…”
