The study of construction and demolition waste (CDW) has attracted more and more attentions with the increasing CDW pollution caused by the large-scale infrastructure construction. This study used the Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) combined with topic intensity to discover hot topics and development trends in the study area of CDW. First, the LDA was used for topic modeling to extract the existing topics from textual data. Second, the topic intensity was calculated for the extracted topics and the numerical values of the topic intensity represented the popularity of the topics. In this study, 4 topics were extracted from 1,849 relevant articles through the LDA modeling and topic intensity calculation. The results showed that the topic of “CDW management” had an upward trend. Topics such as “recycled aggregate,” “environmental impact,” and “study of CDW on soil” all showed a downward trend. The methods of this study can dig into the topics of CDW study and help scholars to engage in this field for better understanding the prevalence and evolution trends of these topics.

With concerns related to the consumption of natural resources, changes in urban space, and the generation of waste by civil construction, strategies were created and developed to promote environmentally sustainable development. One of these is the design for deconstruction, as an alternative for minimizing solid waste, extending the useful life of materials, preserving embodied energy, and reducing areas for landfills and the consumption of natural resources. Due to the changes in the consumption profile and the records of the concern with facing a new water crisis, this study aims to identify the design guidelines for deconstruction that contribute to the preservation of water resources. For the development of this study, a narrative literature review was carried out with documentary research in the Scopus and Google Scholar databases, using keywords related to the topic. It was found that there are phases in which water consumption in civil construction is neglected, with less explored phases and an absence of available data and information. To achieve the proposed objective, information on water consumption in the sector and deconstruction guidelines were compiled and related. The linkages between the design guidelines for deconstruction and information on water use in the life cycle phases of buildings were demonstrated and analyzed with flowcharts. From this analysis, it was verified that deconstruction contributes to environmental preservation by considering the building in full, in all phases of existence.

Groundwater, as a critical component of the hydrological cycle, is essential for sustainable ecosystem development. To clarify the current status of domestic and overseas research, and to identify hotspots, frontier and future trends of groundwater and ecology research, this study utilizes bibliometric methods and CiteSpace software to examine relevant published articles in the Web of Science (WOS) and CNKI databases from 1978 to 2022. Specifically, this study analyzes (1) the annual number of published papers;(2) research institutions; (3) keywords; and (4) evolution of research hotspots. The findings reveal that the United States, China, and Germany are the top three countries in groundwater and ecology research. International research hotspots mainly focus on microbial ecology, climate change, groundwater-surface water interactions in the hyporheic zone, biodiversity, and submarine groundwater discharge, while domestic research hotspots mainly focus on ecological water conveyance, ecological flow, groundwater development and utilization, groundwater pollution, and groundwater and ecological protection. Both domestic and international research hotspots exhibit interdisciplinary features with diverse research objects and assessment methods. Future research in this area is expected to focus on topics such as contamination, groundwater quality, framework, mechanism, spatial distribution, and dissolved organic matter. Additionally, the study of ecological recharge, ecological flow, ecological protection, water intake and use will continue to be the hot topics domestically.
