Selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs) have been widely used to treat breast cancer, osteoporosis, and postmenopausal symptoms. SERMs have an affinity for estrogen receptors (ER) in target tissues and resist stimulation of the breast, bone, and endometrium.
