7‐3: OLED Camera‐Under Panels with Improved Imaging Quality

Abstract: In this paper, we report the novel design and fabrication of OLED (organic light‐emitting diode) Camera‐under panels (CUP) with improved transmittance and imaging quality. We utilized TFT (thin film transistor)‐outside structure and patterned cathode in the CUP region. The diffraction simulation, transmittance test, Point spreading function (PSF) test, and scene photos proved the efficiency of our solution. Remarkable enhancement of imaging performance, which was identical to that of a normal AA‐hole OLED pane… Show more

“…Although the notch, water drop and AA hole screen can improve screen proportion, but they still occupies the display area, so they can only be regarded as transition form and not real full display. The UDC technology can hide camera under screen, which is considered to be the perfect solution for full screen [1][2][3][4][5][6]. However, with the rise of infrared face recognition technology, devices such as infrared face recognition in addition to cameras should also be hidden under screen, which puts higher requirements on screen.…”

“…For the second challence, there have been many research papers [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9], and the common solution is image restoration by deep learning. However, there are few papers focused on the first question [10][11]. In the only few papers, the emphasis is on the pixel circuit placing in external buffer area and cathode patterning, and no one mentions polyimide film (PI).…”

“…At present, the full screen camera technologies on the market can be roughly divided into two methods: pixel circuit internal method (TFT inside) represented by Samsung Fold3, and pixel circuit external method (TFT outside) represented by ZTE Axon20 and Axon30 [4,5,6]. Samsung's full screen camera technology is named UPC (Under Panel Camera).…”
