6d string chains

Abstract: We consider bound states of strings which arise in 6d (1,0) SCFTs that are realized in F-theory in terms of linear chains of spheres with negative selfintersections 1,2, and 4. These include the strings associated to N small E 8 instantons, as well as the ones associated to M5 branes probing A and D type singularities in M-theory or D5 branes probing ADE singularities in Type IIB string theory. We find that these bound states of strings admit (0,4) supersymmetric quiver descriptions and show how one can comput… Show more

“…From the reduction of the SO(8) seven-brane, we get the zero modes given by a Consider next the contribution from the D3-branes. The theory of spacetime filling strings for this case has been determined in reference [42], and also follows from the general discussion of extra sectors given in reference [54]. For the 3 − 3 strings, we have a vector multiplet in the adjoint representation of Sp(N ), so we denote this contribution as V ⊕ Λ. Additionally, we have a (0, 4) hypermultiplet in the two-index anti-symmetric representation which we can also write as two CS multiplets X ⊕ Y .…”

“…The brane set-up realizes a circular chain of E-string theory on O6 + and SO(8) gauge theory on O6 − , where SO(8) × SO(8) ⊂ E 8 global symmetry of E-string theory is being gauged [26,33,34].…”
