Abstract: Since polypoid cystitis (PC) is generally caused by indwelling catheter use, in order to evaluate the patients with PC unrelated to a intravesical catheter, a retrospective analysis of the records of the Pathology Department of Turgut Ozal Medical Center was performed and this revealed 8 patients. Mean age of the 2 female and 6 male patients was 48 years (28 to 70). None of the patients had bacterial growth in urine cultures. “…However, in our patient, polypoid cystitis manifested as a small polypoid lesion located at the posterior wall around the bladder neck. This finding was similar to those described by previous pathological and urological findings wherein the size of polypoid cystitis ranged from 0.7 cm to 3 cm [5][8][9]. These reports noted that the location of the lesion may aid in the differential diagnosis.…”

“…Friedman and Ash [6] defined the diagnosis of “polypoid cystitis” in 1959 for the first time. The most well-known etiology of this condition is long-standing, indwelling catheterization [1][4][5][7]. This pathology occurs equally in men and women ranging in age from 20 months up to 79 years [7].…”

“…[4567] However, clinical features were nonspecific,[28] and in the present case, as there was no history of catheterization, the diagnosis was difficult. In addition, the reports about imaging findings are very few because the cystitis rarely makes the gross mass.…”

“…[1] It is common and tends to be more frequent and severe with repeated catheterization, but not always due to bladder catheterization. [2] On imaging, it sometimes presents a mass mimicking various papillary urothelial neoplasms and is preoperatively misdiagnosed as bladder carcinoma. [3] We report a case of polypoid and papillary cystitis without any relevant history of catheterization, and describe the CT and MR imaging findings.…”
