47‐2: Invited Paper: Highly Transparent AMOLED for Augmented Reality Applications

Abstract: Augmented reality (AR) has started to become popular in our daily life, such as head up display, gaming, house decoration, and many other applications under exploration. Transparent AMOLED is regarded as one of best display technologies for AR applications. In this paper, a highly transparent 13 inch 100 PPI AMOLED was developed for this purpose. Through optimization of TFT array layer stack, OLED cathode pattern and encapsulation structure, 68% transmittance, low reflectance and low yellow index were achieved… Show more

“…AMOLED is more suitable for transparent display application due to inherent transparent, high color gamut and self-luminous [5,6]. For fabricating the transparent display, some studies adopt the FMM patterned technology to make the cathode [7,8]. However, the FMM would easily suffer the irrecoverable deformation under high-temperature evaporation process and result in the high cost of production.…”

“…The traditional transparent display is re-designed from traditional LCD, OLED display, or projection type display, etc. [1][2][3][4] It is hard to escape from limitations of the technology, so the transparency or other performance is not good enough. In recent years, to meet the market requirement for transparent display, some new transparent displays emerged out, such as Micro/Mini LED display, scattering type PSLC display, etc.…”

“…With its display and transparent controllability, transparent LCD technology has received more and more attention in recent years. [1][2][3] The ideal transparent display panel can not only see the displayed image, but also the real object behind it. To make sure the panel have optical properties close to transparent glass in the non-display area, PNLC (Polymer Network Liquid Crystal) combined with field-sequential display technology based on time mixing is a perfect method, it is a full-color display module without color filters, paddles and polarizers, so as to achieve a panel transmittance greater than 80%.…”
