40.1: Invited Paper: Active Matrix Low Temperature Poly‐Si TFT / OLED Full Color Displays: Development Status

Abstract: In October 1999, Eastman Kodak and Sanyo Electric jointly announced the development of a high quality, 2.4 inch diagonal Full Color active matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) display. This technology demonstration resulted from the successful integration of Kodak's organic electroluminescence display technology and Sanyo's low temperature polysilicon TFT technology. Commercial samples are expected to reach the market in 2001. The active matrix OLED displays feature a wider viewing angle and a faster res… Show more

“…The maximum current efficiency of the devices based on the new compounds is above 2.1 cd A À1 , which is over 70% higher than for previously reported devices using Alq 3 and TPBI instead. The CIE coordinates of the device based on p-PPtNT are close to the National Television System Committee (NTSC) standards of 0.14, 0.08 [29] for blue emission.…”

“…Each of the 18 bags was carefully labelled, so that the reaction histories could be easily identified, then three reaction flasks were set up: * Flask 1: Building block 29 a was added to bags 1, 2 and 3. * Flask 2: Building block 29 b was added to bags 4,5,6,7,8 and 9. * Flask 3: Building block 29 c was added to bags 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18. After 12 hours at 65 8C a sample of the polymer support was tested for free alkyne groups by placing a small amount of the polymer support (swollen with carbon tetrachloride) between two NaCl plates and recording the IR spectrum.…”

“…[3] OEL is an emerging technology that allows the manufacture of efficient, lowvoltage multicolour displays. [4] An OEL display consists of thin films of organic materials sandwiched between electrodes. When an electric field is applied, holes are injected from the anode and electrons from the cathode.…”

“…Recently, the AMOLED (active-matrix organic light emitting diode) display device is expected to be the next generation displays such as TVs applications due to their superiority features over LCDs (liquid-crystal displays) such as faster response time, higher contrast ratio, better color realization and wider viewing angle [1], [2]. Fast response time is crucial to realized large TV (include 3D TV) having high frame frequency and resolution.…”
