Desde que la Organización Mundial de la Salud elevó la situación de emergencia de salud pública ocasionada por el COVID-19 a pandemia internacional, la rapidez en la evolución de los hechos, a escala nacional e internacional, ha requerido la adopción de medidas inmediatas y eficaces para hacer frente a esta coyuntura. En este contexto, han surgido iniciativas y soluciones desde la solidaridad y la innovación, con el objetivo de paliar la escasez de material sanitario y de equipos de protección individual. La impresión 3D ha sido una alternativa tecnológica usada con éxito para darle una respuesta rápida y efectiva a la necesidad de fabricar material sanitario y de protección para los profesionales. A nivel educativo, la irrupción de la tecnología de impresión 3D presenta el reto de conocer cómo estos medios tecnológicos pueden dar soporte a actividades de enseñanza-aprendizaje, utilizados como vía para adquirir conocimiento y desarrollar capacidades organizativas y de creación, así como el de la cultura “maker”, en la que se potencia que los individuos creen artefactos adaptados a sus necesidades o mejoren los ya existentes, utilizando la tecnología. Como docentes debemos educar para cooperar, inculcar valores…, dando ejemplo a nuestros estudiantes, futuros docentes en formación inicial. Diseño e impresión en 3d de 8656 protectores de pantallas faciales con implicación de docentes universitarios en un grupo makers durante dos meses, se utilizaron programas de diseño como Tinkercad, Blender (Windows 10), OpenScad, FreeCad, entre otros; y aproximadamente 80 impresoras, trabajando por el bien común, la cooperación, la justicia social, la equidad y la solidaridad conseguiremos una sociedad mejor para todos.

This research aims at analyzing the usage of 3D Printing in education for school grades and suggests a way to encourage schools to use 3D Printers in Education. For this, a survey was done for 3,247 teachers in Gyeonggi Province on September. Usually, schools are trying to buy 3D Printers to use it with software education courses. However, by this survey, it turns out that teachers use 3D Printer with after-school activities, creativity, and experiential activities more than regular courses. This is because there are not many teaching and learning materials for 3D Printers to be used with regular courses and it is hard for teachers to use 3D printers with professionally because lack of the training. Therefore, to activate 3D printers in schools, not only budget support but also training for teachers and developing teaching and learning materials should be involved.

Improved model and experimental validation of deformation in fused filament fabrication of polylactic acid

RepRaps (self Replicating Rapid prototypers), which 3-D print objects using fused filament fabrication (FFF), have evolved rapidly since their open source introduction. These 3-D printers have primarily been limited to desktop sizes of volumes of 8000 cm 3 , which has limited the attention of the scientific community to investigating deformation of common thermoplastics such as polylactic acid (PLA) used in FFF printing. The only existing physically relevant deformation model was expanded here to use a physics-based temperature gradient instead of a step function. This was necessary to generalize the model to 3-D printing in a room temperature environment without a heated chamber. The thermal equation was calibrated using thermal measurements and validated by measuring curvatures in printed objects. The results confirm that this is a valid model for predicting warpage of thin vertical walls of PLA. Additionally, the effect of annealing was examined. It was found that at a temperature of 50°C, no shrinkage or crystallization takes place, but at 90°C the PLA rapidly crystallizes to around 20% crystallinity. This indicates that heated bed temperatures should be maintained at 50 o C or lower to avoid print failure (premature substrate release) with PLA. At 90°C, the annealing is accompanied by a 5% size decrease in both horizontal dimensions, but an 8% increase in the vertical dimension. Thus, the volume decreased by only 3%. This observation may lead to potential methods of improving slicing of printing large PLA objects with FFF.
