3D-Multiple Object Tracking training task improves passing decision-making accuracy in soccer players

Abstract: 4Objectives. The ability to perform a context-free 3-dimensional multiple object 5 tracking (3D-MOT) task has been highly related to athletic performance. In the 6 present study, we assessed the transferability of a perceptual-cognitive 3D-MOT 7 training from a laboratory setting to a soccer field, a sport in which the capacity to 8 correctly read the dynamic visual scene is a prerequisite to performance. Design. 9Throughout pre-and post-training sessions, we looked at three essential skills 10 (passing, dribb… Show more

“…Training visual attention and executive functions could thus improve performance in fast‐paced ball sports (Williams et al, ). Perceptual cognitive training for university‐level soccer players has been shown to improve decision making in ball passing (Romeas, Guldner, & Faubert, ). Interventions such as motivational videos and self‐talk improve motivation, stress management, and, ultimately, performance (Barwood, Weston, Thelwell, & Page, ; Thelwell et al, ).…”

“…Such approach permits to realize in practice one of main training methods -method of vivid perception. Such approach is proved in several works (Romeas, Guldner, & Faubert, 2016;Hohmann, Obelöer, Schlapkohl, & Raab, 2016). For example with the help of special programs in sportsmen-beginners ideas about high quality fulfillment of every exercise are formed.…”
