“…For estimating the nasal symptoms, the frequency of sneezing behaviors and nasal rubbing were counted. After internasal administration of OVA from days 22 to 28, the frequency of sneezing behavior and nasal rubbing was counted after 15 min and also counted the experimental conditions (blinded observation) (Şahin et al., 2021; Xu et al., 2021; Zhang & Kang, 2020).…”

“…Oral administration of naringenin, a flavanone mostly found in citrus peel, was shown to significantly reduce nasal scratching score in rats with OVA-induced AR with improved histology in the nasal epithelium and decreased serum IgE, IL-4, and IL-5 [103]. In addition, naringenin inhibited TSLP production in PMA/Ionophore-activated human mast cells (HMC-1 cells) through inhibition of NF-κB and TSLP-induced mRNA expressions of IL-13, TNF-α, IL-17 receptors, and TSLP receptors in these cells [102]. Therefore, naringenin and many other flavonoids may have a protective role against allergic conditions in allergen-sensitized individuals by regulating TSLP, the key initiator of Th2-driven allergic inflammation.…”

“…[17] Citrus fruits contain the flavonoid naringenin, which has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and cardiovascular benefits. [18] By blocking pro-oxidant enzymes, it demonstrates its antioxidant benefits through ROS scavenging and metal ion chelation and abilities. [19] Naringenin demonstrated a protective effect against radiation-induced lung damage in a rat study investigating the radioprotective efficacy of the compound.…”
